GOLF DAY GRIP 39TH SUBARU GOLF DAY A SUCCESS THE 39th consecutive Subaru Golf Day, the longest running trade golf day in NSW, was recently held at the Pymble Golf Club. A total of 18 teams participated in the shotgun start, representing retail outlets from Brisbane, Western Australia and South Australia, as well as from NSW. Also included were representatives from Esanda, Alliance, Orix, TTC, D3 and AutoNexus. It’s fair to say that a great day was had by all. The McGrath Subaru team of Greg Hook, Glen Matheson, John Iordindis and Paul Berte took first place. The Subaru Western combination of Mark Edmonds, Mathew Allen, Carlos DeCosta and Eddy Albrecht were runners– up, while third were the Queensland “Swelly’s Smashers” combination of Richard Wells, Shane Bright, Mark Stewart and Graeme Frazier. Scratch winner, with a score of 64, was the Hunter Subaru team of Garry Hayes, Angelo Thodas, Mark Dries and Jim Gizzi. The day included the usual longest drive and nearest the pin competitions. Nearest to the pin winners were Darryl Sharp, Austin International (third hole at 940cm); Mark Dries, Hunter Subaru (15th hole at 820cm) and the 11th hole with Hickory Club winner Glenn Matheson, McGrath Subaru, at 68cm. Liam Gaskin from Zupps Subaru, Mt Gravat t, recorded the longest drive, an impressive 279 metre effort. The day also included “misdemeanors” and a BRZ hole. The BRZ hole was structured to allocate a BRZ to the dealership with the closest to the pin on the second shot on a par four hole. This was won by Daniel Rice, on behalf of Subaru Penrith. Misdemeanors included throwing clubs, stealing balls and other actions on the course outside of golf rules. It was designed to beafunpartofthedayand many golfers received prizes for their shenanigans. Subaru National Marketing Manager, Toby O’Bree, and his team got a prize because they all chipped out of the bunker and left Jack New ton to rake it. The day was run by the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation, who also provided a few very talented youngsters to help those with a need – meaning most of the field – with some much needed technique tips. Subaru National Sales Manager, Gary Johnston, is keen to build on the day’s success. “We want to develop the Subaru Masters as a dealer event and are planning some events around Australia in 2013 to build up to this fabulous event in November,” Johnston said. “Apart from the activity, it’s a great day to catch up with new and old friends, to take a day off from the grind and to relax. “Thanks to everyone who attended, and we hope to see even more dealers in 2013.” Rank Retailer Location Oct. 2012 1 DOCKLANDS 74 2 MT GRAVATT 58 3 SUTHERLAND 25 4 ROSEBERY 23 5 ADELAIDE 21 6 NEWSTEAD 20 7 HOBART 18 8 GLEN WAVERLEY 17 9 WANGARA 16 9 LIVERPOOL 16 11 OSBORNE PARK 14 11 CHATSWOOD 14 11 WAITARA 14 11 NARELLAN 14 15 FYSHWICK 11 15 PHILLIP 11 17 GEELONG 10 17 WEST RYDE 10 17 WOLLONGONG 10 17 TOOWONG 10 October 2012 Fleet and Government Sales by Retailer Go to page 11 for Year to Date statisics.
