Best of luck, and happy selling! 25 YEARS OF TOP SERVICE WEST Australian, Paul Cutiar, has just completed 25 years of service with Subaru. Across that long service he has earned himself a reputation as knowing more about Subaru parts than most, and is now Parts Manager for Subaru Osborne Park. He has seen many changes in that time, from the early models when the Brumby was a key part of the line-up, and he remains passionate about the brand. Paul started with Melville Subaru back in July 1987. Having finished school he spent two years at Repco Brake and Clutch before scoring the job as a trainee parts interpreter with the Subaru outlet. “The Subaru L series was two years old when I started and the Brumby was a best seller,” Paul said. “I was taken under the wing of another long term Subaru parts man named Milton Reynolds, who taught me much about the product. “My first job on my first day was entering figures into the cardex system, which was like a stock control system we used before computers came on line at dealerships.” He spent 18 years at Melville Subaru until a parts manager position became available at the brand new Subaru Osborne Park. “I jumped at it with no second thoughts as this is what I had always dreamed of, being able to run my own par ts depar tment,” Paul said. “The majority of my staff today were not born when I star ted with Subaru, and they always pass the Brumby and L series customers straight onto me for assistance. “I’ve been here since 2004 and enjoyed my time here immensely. “I was humbled to be named AHG’s Parts Manager of the Year in 2011, and I intend on being here for many more enjoyable years in the service of the Subaru customer.” The father of two has Subaru in his veins, and its flowed on to his kids. ‘They didn’t have much choice,” laughed Paul. “Both Tayla and Dylan were able to say the word Subaru soon after learning to say Mum and Dad.” Some of Paul’s highlights come from the early days. “I vividly remember the Liberty being named Wheels Car of the Year in 1994, which was a huge event for our brand. “Plus there was the rally era. Being able to see Rally Australia in Perth and going to a presentation at the Sheraton Hotel by Possum Bourne, who signed a poster of himself for me, was great, and it still holds pride of place in my home.” INSIDE GRIP AUGUST 2012 HOME PAGE BRZ ACCOLADES PARTS & ACCESSORIES AFTERSALES LIBERTY X WHAT’S IN THE PRESS SUBARU TRENDS DEALER STATS NPS SCORES SPORT
