Grip : GRIP July 2011
brand new JarVis subaru For adelaide JARVIS Subaru, based right in the heart of Adelaide, is now the country’s newest Subaru dealership. The challenge of being right in the CBD meant that proprietor Rick Collins, DP Peter Shearer, and their team, required a creative solution to meet the needs of the brand, their customers and staff and, of course, their budget. Situated right on busy West Terrace on the edge of the city’s golden mile, the site NEWEST DEALERSHIP GRIP attracts enormous passing traffic. Anyone on their way to or from work would be hard pressed to miss the impressive new Subaru showroom, with a major street presence, highlighted by a second story display on the exposed corner of the site. The job of pulling the project together for Jarvis Subaru fell to David McNaughton, the company’s Strategic Procurement and Logistics Manager. David will tell you that it was, at times, a difficult assignment, but it was all certainly worth it in the end. “ Right from the beginning of the project the location presented many challenges,” David said. “Finding a suitable location was the first hurdle, then the expense of the development. Issues like car parking and the expense of building an underground facility are a par t of building an inner city facility. “During construction we incurred additional expenses and delays, like paying for road closures, traffic control, electricity infrastructure costs and town planning considerations.” Jade Lowrey, Sales Consultant at Jarvis Subaru, looks over the impressive new f acility.
